Retention, Outreach & Cultural Events
Retention of American Indians Now!
Check out our Instagram here
RAIN! was created to retain American Indian and Pacific Islander students at UCLA. This is done through Peer Counseling, Wellness, Mentorship and with the help of the Community Programs Office (CPO). Here are some of our workshop flyers that we have done in the past.
Outside of AISA, some of our students participate in Retention of American Indians Now!, American Indian Recruitment, Youth Conference, Pow Wow, and other cultural events. Here is just a glimpse of a few!
Cultural Events
Each spring, UCLA’s American Indian Student Association hosts the three-day UCLA Pow Wow. This event draws thousands of Native Americans from Southern California and beyond to UCLA during the first weekend of May. This year it will be held in-person May 4th-5th right here on UCLA's campus.
Founded in 1985, the UCLA Powwow is the second largest student-organized event on campus (right after Bruin Bash). This event is crucial to AISA’s mission to inform UCLA students about the native community on campus and is a way to give back to the the native community in Los Angeles and SoCal.

In previous years, AISA has also held a Native Fashion Show on the last day of Native Heritage Week in November every Fall Quarter. Students are encouraged to bring their traditional regalia and walk in the fashion show.
SUN Families
Supporting Undergraduate Natives (SUN) is a program within RAIN Mentorship. In this program, our undergraduates, graduate and faculty are placed into "families" with similar interests and fields of study. Throughout the year, each family attempts to get as many points as they can because in spring quarter, prizes are awarded. Points are given when members of a family go to activities or study together and they send a picture to the RAIN Mentorship Coordinator.
